Roberta expresses her creative ideas mainly through photomontage. This recent approach follows her previous interest in the use of mixed media including drawing and collage. Roberta’s research lead to various trials using photography and moving image to record snippets from everyday life and playful visual experiments, with everyday objects. Her current project sprouts from her interest in fine art restoration, focusing on the derelict, unrestored objects found in churches on the island of Gozo, where she lives. Similar to the unveiled layers of the objects under investigation, her compositions consist of layers of photomontage, collage, drawing and other techniques using mixed media.
