Breaking the Taboo

Breaking the Taboo’ looks at individuals, and aims to showcase their personality and how they use tattoos as a form of expression. Although society is slowly adapting to tattoos, negative connotations are still present. The research study ‘Unattractive, promiscuous and heavy drinkers: Perceptions of women with tattoos’ drew out that women with tattoos are still viewed in a negative manner compared to those without tattoos, indicating that objectification towards tattooed females is still evidently present. The body of work puts women in the spotlight to challenge the objectification faced when exposing their tattoos.
