The aim of ‘The Pet Portrait Project’ is to tell the stories of a variety of animals who have been abandoned in sanctuaries using the medium of photographic portraiture. Each of the animals featured in the series had a difficult upbringing, despite the fact that this isn’t always evident to the viewer. In order to bring more attention to the matter at hand and share their story, the project focused on using the principles of documentary portraiture to capture their story within an image.
