Shawn is a prospective game developer focusing on technical art to merge his knowledge of programming and creative skill. He spends most of his free time expanding his knowledge in games by playing them, and when he isn’t doing so he is driving his motorbike. The project he took on was the creation and optimisation of a 3D game environment, focusing on testing different techniques of optimisation to achieve better performance. Through the use of Quixel Megascans, newly created materials, vertex painting, post processing volumes, and other practices, he brought his vision into a digital medium, taking great inspiration from his love for horror. Once this was done, he then optimised the real-time performance of the environment gaining a substantial increase in frames per second. This project helped him in understanding and utilising these different techniques. He aims to help other individuals in the same manner.
